Turkmenistan and Greece Forge Closer Economic and Educational Ties


ATHENS: In a series of strategic meetings held in Athens, Toyly Komekov, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Greece, along with Greek government officials, has engaged in discussions aimed at bolstering trade and economic cooperation, focusing also on sectors such as education and agriculture.

According to Trend News Agency, the ambassador met with Konstantinos Fragkogiannis, the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs. The discussions highlighted the potential for fortifying the bilateral relationship in economic sectors, with an emphasis on the importance of expanding these partnerships and deepening cooperation. Komekov’s dialogues also included a significant meeting with Konstantinos Tsiaras, the Greek Agriculture Minister, where they concentrated on enhancing cooperation in the agricultural domain.

Further, Komekov engaged with Ioanna Lytrivi, the Greek Vice Minister of Education. Their talks were centered around potential collaborations in the educational sector, discussing the exchange of experti
se between universities in both countries and the training of Turkmen students in Greek educational institutions.

These meetings underscore the ongoing political and diplomatic dialog between Turkmenistan and Greece, which aims to strengthen bilateral ties across various domains, including cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Notably, the credential presentation ceremony of Ambassador Toyly Komekov to the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, was held at the Presidential Palace in Athens on October 8, 2024, marking a significant step in formalizing these diplomatic engagements.
