Baku: Ukraine’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husyev, emphasized the strong potential for development in various sectors between Azerbaijan and Ukraine at an event marking the 34th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He highlighted the key areas of trade, energy, infrastructure, culture, and education as fields ripe for successful collaboration.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ambassador pointed out that the strengthened relations over the years have been built on trust and respect for sovereignty and independence. Husyev expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijan for its humanitarian support, including a $1 million aid package. He also noted that economic and trade relations have entered a new phase, with Ukraine particularly interested in developing the “Middle Corridor” transport route through the region.
Husyev praised Azerbaijan’s role in humanitarian demining operations in Ukraine and its support for Ukraine’s energy sector. He acknowledged Azerbaijan’s contributions to rehabilitating children affected by the war and commemorated Azerbaijani nationals who have lost their lives fighting for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
Garay Muradov from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the solid foundation of bilateral relations, established under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Alibala Maharramzada, head of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Friendship Group in the Milli Majlis, expressed optimism about the future of these ties, promising continued efforts to strengthen them.
Vladimir Kraydenko, head of the Ukraine-Azerbaijan Friendship Group in the Rada, praised the cooperation and friendship between the two nations. He emphasized the broad potential for advancing strategic relations and expressed interest in elevating cooperation to higher levels.
