Voter Turnout in Uzbekistan’s Parliamentary Election Reaches 47.62% by Midday


TASHKENT: Voter turnout in Uzbekistan’s parliamentary elections reached 47.62 percent by 1 p.m., according to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan, as reported by Trend News Agency. Out of the 19.9 million eligible voters, 9.4 million had cast their ballots by that time, indicating significant public engagement in the electoral process.

According to Trend News Agency, Polling stations opened on October 27 for elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local kengashes (councils) of people’s deputies. The stations are scheduled to remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with preliminary results anticipated on October 28.

Five political parties are participating in the elections: the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish,” Ecological Party, People’s Democratic Party, and Social Democratic Party “Adolat.” This year’s elections are conducted under a mixed electoral system, in accordance with the revised Cons
titution and national electoral legislation. The system allocates 75 members of the Legislative Chamber to be elected in single-mandate constituencies through a majoritarian electoral system, with the remaining 75 members elected via proportional representation through party lists.

The election process has been fully digitalized using the “E-Saylov” information system, marking a significant technological advancement in conducting elections.

Over 850 foreign and international observers are monitoring the election, including delegations from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
