Azerbaijan to Cut Peacetime Military Service for Officers by Six Months

Baku: Officers called up from the reserve for compulsory military service or voluntarily joining under a contract will have their active service period reduced by six months during peacetime, APA reports. The draft law is currently being discussed at a meeting of the Defense, Security, and Counter-Corruption Committee of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed changes aim to modify the current requirements for military service duration for officers. The reduction in service time is set to affect those officers who are either called up from the reserve or choose to join the military under a contractual agreement during times of peace.

The draft law is still in the discussion phase, with further deliberations expected to take place among the members of the Milli Majlis. The outcome of these discussions will determine the final implementation of the proposed changes to the military service duration for officers in Azerbaijan.
