Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed optimism regarding the potential signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, contingent on amendments to the Armenian Constitution. This statement was made during an interaction with Azerbaijani journalists at the Munich Security Conference, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan's stance on the matter has been consistently communicated to Armenia over the years. He indicated that the completion of necessary constitutional amendments by Armenia would enable the signing of a peace treaty as soon as the following day. Aliyev also mentioned that, despite the absence of a formal treaty, peace has been effectively achieved through agreements at the Washington Summit, a joint declaration, and the initial steps towards a treaty. He highlighted that the formalization of this peace is contingent upon Armenia's constitutional changes and the removal of territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
