Earthquake Strikes Shamakhi District in Azerbaijan, No Damage Reported

Shamakhi: On June 5, 2025, two earthquakes were recorded in the Shamakhi district of Azerbaijan. The first, a 3.7-magnitude tremor, occurred at 16:02 local time at a depth of 7 kilometers. Shortly after, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake was registered at a depth of 4 kilometers. Data from the Republican Seismological Service Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was provided to the Emergency Situations Ministry’s Crisis Management Center. The Ministry of Emergency Situations, in a statement released via APA, confirmed these details.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, another earthquake in the Shamakhi and Khizi districts was reported by the Seismological Service Center. This 3.1-magnitude quake occurred at 16:04 local time, also at a depth of 4 kilometers. Fortunately, this seismic event was not felt by residents in the area.

The earlier 3.7-magnitude earthquake was felt more prominently, with reports indicating a magnitude of 4 at the epicenter and 3-4 in the surrounding areas. Despite the tremors, no damage or casualties have been reported to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
