Baku: Orkhan Agayev has been summoned to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, as announced in a statement issued to ITV, APA reports. The Prosecutor General’s Office has officially notified Agayev in accordance with Article 467-13.4 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Orkhan Agayev, born on November 5, 1986, is required to present himself with an identity document at the administrative building of the Investigation Department on April 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM. The summons relates to accusations under Articles 12.1, 34.2, 220.2, and 12.1, 34.2, 281.2 of the Criminal Code, based on a decision made on September 7, 2020.
The decision from September 2020 details that between April 19, 2019, and August 7, 2019, Agayev collaborated with individuals previously convicted by a court ruling. They allegedly shared videos on platforms like YouTube and Facebook, inciting the violent overthrow of the government, illegal detention, and changes to Azerbaijan’s constitutional order. These videos allegedly called for violent, unlawful mass disturbances and the dissemination of such content.
As Agayev has reportedly fled the investigation and is hiding outside Azerbaijan, an arrest warrant was issued on September 7, 2020, accompanied by a detention order from the Nasimi District Court of Baku. Under Articles 54-2.1.7 and 467-13.3 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Agayev is warned that failure to appear as summoned could result in a trial in absentia, with a verdict or final decision made in his absence.
Previously, the Prosecutor General’s Office had announced the summoning of other individuals, such as Gurban Mammadov and Tural Sadigli, to the Investigation Department.
